Cannot find my wifi connection

So, the other day the wifi randomly disconnected off of my Roku. I'm with Bell and have seen others with the same issue. My wifi name just won't show up. My neighbors, my hotspot and even my google home wifi (that is connected to the same internet) will show but not mine. Now after long and frustrating hours of factory resetting the Roku and all that jazz I thought I had finally found an answer.

Apparently the Roku can't read 5ghz so I needed to go on settings on my wifi connection to turn off the shared names for 5 and 2.4ghz and change the names so that it could connect to 2.4ghz instead. After that not working and refreshing multiple times, I thought found another possible answer.

Maybe it had switched channels. The 2.4ghz runs on channel 1, 6 and 11. After using my hotspot on my phone, I noticed the Roku was on channel 6 for internet. So I manually go on my internet settings and set my 2.4 wifi to channel 6 instead of auto. Guess what... Still nothing.

I'm honestly frustrated. A lot of people seemed to be both helped by these two tips or helpless with no solution. I'm sad and just want to watch my netflix shows again.

If anyone could please help, that would be lovely.

Re: Cannot find my wifi connection

Here's what has worked for me to re-establish my net connection. I usually have to do this on my most used Roku, a Streaming Stick+, several times a month.

  • Restart your router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Restart the Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart (for Roku TV it's Settings > System > Power > System restart). Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Find and connect to your network via Settings> Network > Set up connection

If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.
