Anyone else having more issues recently with Express Connectivity

Has anyone noticed since let’s say end of July maybe Aug that you are having more issues with connection.. because ever since I updated my Modem (2 times now) I have had issues with my roku not connecting or losing connection but everything else connected to my wifi work..I have to daily reboot/restart the Roku and at times my modem.. I have tried everything to make it work.. I have a Roku Express and have had it maybe a year or over a year now and it’s only these last few months.. is it because of this 5G bs… or what is going on.. I am about to find an alternative streaming service because it really disrupts our ability to either have a family movie night, or just watch a show or two for the evening..

thoughts?? Or anyone else feeling like I am ..

I don’t want support patent answers as I have done it all and think it’s ridiculous for me to purchase a new Roku..

Thanks

Re: Anyone else having more issues recently

@Dmakins

Thanks for the post.

I would recommend checking out our Support page for troubleshooting issues here: What should I do if I cannot connect to my home network or the internet?

Please answer the following questions so we can get a better understanding of what you are seeing:

- Have you ensured your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the device to connect to? The Roku Express/Premiere is only compatible with wireless b/g/n networks on the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
- Have you tried changing the wireless broadcast channel on the router to see if this will allow your device to connect?
- Have you tried moving the device closer to your router to see if you can get connected?
- How long have you been experiencing this problem?

If those things still aren't helping, feel free to provide us with the serial number of your Roku from Settings>System>About along with the answers to the above questions and I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny

@Dmakins

Some ISPs (Comcast comes to mind) have changed their wireless routers 2.4 GHz settings from b/g/n to g/n and this has caused issues. Do you have an ISP-supplied router? Have you checked to see if they made changes? If so, change back to b/g/n and things should start working again.

Re: Anyone else having more issues recently with Express Connectivity

@Dmakins-

I used to have to re-establish my internet connection on my most-used Roku (3810 listed in my sig below) several times a month. (The others, a 3600 on a seldom used set in the guest bedroom, and the Roku TV in the bedroom mainly used by my wife viewing DirecTV kept connections very well.)   It's been several months now since I replaced an old Western Digital router with a new ASUS TR-AX3000 and I haven't had to re-connect the 3810 since.

I suspect my Roku 3810 does not recover from wifi instability as well as my other household devices, and that the new modem is much more stable than the old.
