I bought 3 Roku devices before and each and every one crapped out within a year. Now, I have a free Roku Express and it will not connect to internet at all.
Roku is a complete waste of time, effort and money; stream any other way but them, as I now intend to do.
Unlikely you are unlucky enough to get a batch of bad Roku devices, so more likely it is a problem with your network setup. I certainly won't say that perhaps another streaming brand device may work better for you, but if you wish to troubleshoot your issue, post your Express device model numbers, your router model number, and your ISP. (internet provider)
Will likely have to change some settings within your router to eliminate some known culprits to see if we can get you connected.
Feel free to post back with the above info.
I’m searching for help with this same issue on a 3 yr old roku tv. All of a sudden two weeks ago some apps won’t connect to internet but others will. Hulu is saying it’s the internet, my isp is saying internet is just fine. If I connect my Roku tv to another network (tmobile), everything works. I’m so confused because everyone has helped me but roku lol
First thing I would do is to restart both the router and the Roku device/RokuTV.
Then I would verify that my router settings are as follows..
2.4ghz band -- Radio On/Enabled and Broadcasting SSID, manually assign channel to 1, 6, or 11 , not "Auto", set Mode/Protocol to b/g/n, and set bandwidth/channel width to 20 mhz.
5 ghz band... Radio On/Enabled and Broadcasting SSID, manually assign channel to 36-48, or 149-161, not "Auto", and set bandwidth/channel width to 20mhz, then increase as necessary depending on connection stability.
Once these basics are out of the way, can begin to narrow down some issues. Additionally, I would try connecting the RokuTV to the 2.4ghz band rather than the 5ghz band after making above changes and see if the connection stabilizes and mitigates issues you are having.
Feel free to post back with an update or if you have more questions.
