The TV (Samsung Smart TV) suddenly shows the message "roku discontinued support for your device. To continue watching Spectrum TV on Roku, please upgrade your device." Checked with Spectrum, all is good there. Do we need a new TV?!
The TV should be fine. What Roku model number do you have?
how do I tell?
You should find it at Settings -> System -> About.
It says 2710X-Roku 1
Yes, they are correct that Roku considers that to be a legacy device. (It came out in 2013.) So just replacing the Roku with a modern model should fix that.
