no volume buttons on roku tcl tv

why are there no volume buttons on the roku tv? i lost the remote and cannot connect the tv to wifi without a remote, but to use the remote on my phone i have to have both on the same wifi. wth?

You have two different issues, but you'd have to ask TCL about the volume buttons.  I'm sure the answer is that they save 5 cents per TV by not adding buttons that most people never use.  As far as connecting to Wi-Fi, you must have a physical remote unless your TV supports a wired connection.  You can get a cheap universal remote that supports Roku TVs or a $10 remote from Roku:
