The only Roku with XS in its name is the second generation Roku 2 XS, model 3100, released in 2011. Products in the current line are ninth generation or later. This old unit is no longer supported since the release of Roku operating system version 9.2 in September 2019, and has not received a Roku operating system update since version 9.1. The 12.5 version rolling out now to supported units is the 9th release since 9.1.
It may well be that this old a unit can no longer be activated. The activation method no longer uses the roku.com/link site, instead it sends you an activation link via email. And even if it can be activated there are many channel apps that no longer support the Roku 2 XS because they require features and capabilities added to later more advanced units.
