Roku “not connected” internet is full strength and all other devices are connected..

We have 5 Rokus in our home, two are working fine and the other three are saying not connected. I have reset Rokus, reset router, even reset factory defaults. After factory default reset the Roku won’t even recognize my WiFi network at all. Please help!

Re: Roku “not connected” internet is full strength and all other devices are connected..

I started having this problem with my Roku Express recently

It would work for a while and then in the middle of something I would get a no connection message.

Trying the network connection command would only get me a window that showed a connection to the router but not to the internet.

The only solution I found was to restart the router. Sometimes it would work ok for a few minutes or even a half hour but it always failed.

I tried the usual things, powering up the rookie, resetting the network. Restarting router, etc.  no luck.

What does seem to have worked is setting my cable Wi-Fi router to split band. This ends up with you having two wifi networks. One 2 ghz and the other 5 ghz. The Roku Express only does the 2 ghz band so when I searched for wifi networks only the 2 ghz network showed up. So far it has worked for about eight hours.

@Tabbott333  Are your 5 Rokus different models?  Many lower-end Roku models only do 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, but now and then some ISPs have been known to send out router firmware updates with the 2.4GHz turned off by default.  Fortunately, this is usually just an annoyance as you can turn it back on at the router.

@Ilbob  It’s interesting that at many ISP forums, you’ll see issues with devices solved by splitting the bands (giving them their own SSIDs) yet many ISPs like to ship routers with combined bands because they think their customers will be confused by having a choice of networks.

Banned but back. Because why not?

After switching a working Roku to the non-working location to only find that one didn’t work there either I figure out how to split my WiFi. Splitting my WiFi fixed my issue! THANK YOU!
