Roku TV issue with backlight

my 50” roku onn. tv has sound and turns on but has a black screen. come to find out that if i put a flashlight to it, i can faintly see the picture in that spot. that is the backlights being out and i was wondering if anyone has replaced them and knows which ones to use. this tv is an older model, probably 3 years old or more.

Re: Roku TV issue with backlight

Hi @gmarie3125,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are happy to assist.

While using a flashlight to navigate the screen, use the instructions below to change the TV brightness setting on your TV.

  1. Press Home on your TV remote.
  2. Scroll and select Settings.
  3. Select the TV picture settings.
  4. Select TV brightness.
  5. Select Auto to enable ambient sensing, or select a constant brightness level.
  6. Press OK on your remote.

You can also try unplugging and plugging in the TV for reboot purposes. Let us know if this helps.

Regards,
Janadee

Re: Roku TV issue with backlight

Hi @Kyle6993,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

Can you please specify the issue you are experiencing? What is the brand of your Roku TV? (e.g., TCL, Hisense, Onn, Pioneer, Sharp) What troubleshooting steps have you already taken to try to resolve the issue?

With more detailed information, we will be able to assist you further.

All the best,

Chel
