Roku TCL remote battery drains quickly

I have two TCL remotes that were draining batteries in about a week.

The remotes are RC-AL5.

The roku TV updated its Firmware in November about the time that this problem started.

I did a factory reset on the TV.  Both TV and remotes have been repaired and powered cycled.  My latest efforts now the remotes started to pair but cannot be found by the TV.  The green pairing light now blinks non-stop on both remotes even after replacing the batteries.

Please advise.  Why would two remotes stop working and stop pairing at the same time?

TCL model 55S517

Hardware ID 7118X

software 12.5 build 4176-30

Re: Roku TCL remote battery drains quickly

Nothing happens when I do as you described.    Now both remotes are no longer pairing?   I can see the infrared with my phone camera so I know that the remotes are working.     Factory reset on the TV and worked briefly to power but then stopped working when I went to pair them.   Again both identical remotes behaving the same way.
