I just bought a Roku express and either the controller doesn’t work or the screen freezes. Then every 30 seconds the thing restarts and sometimes I can control it sometimes I can’t.
I have put new batteries in. Restarted the device.
Look at the fine print on the USB power adapter and make sure it says something like, "Output: 5V 1A". Anything greater than 1A (1 Amp or 1000mA) is all right, but less is not. If that checks out, about all that's left is a factory reset and if it still doesn't work return it. TV USB ports can often only supply 500mA, so that's why plugging it into the wall is recommended.

How are you powering it? If you're using the TV's USB port, try using a USB power adapter/charger from a phone or tablet plugged into the wall.
I have moved it from the tv usb to a power outlet. But still the same issue
