Replacement for a flaky original remote (Roku Express model 3930X)

The original remote on my Roku Express model 3930X works somewhat but on certain channels a single up or down arrow press moves the channel select multiple boxes. This is especially noticable on the FriendlyTv channel, which I use extensively. To troubleshoot, I downloaded the Roku android app and configured its remote function, and it works normally.. ie: one up or down arrow equals one square.

This pretty much pointed to a flaky original remote, so I ordered one from Amazon as I needed it immediately. I ordered this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LMY9WN?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details.

The info indicated that it would work with my Express model. The unit arrived this evening and it included no documentation on how to pair it with the Express. Everything I've seen here and on the help presented on the Express indicates there should be a pairing button near the bottom of the unit. There is none.

Can someone clarify how to get this remote to work with my Express???

Thanks

Dave

That amazon bought remote is an aftermarket made remote, its not Roku made remote. If the batteries are in correct it should just work with your express if it has a line of sight to the front of the Roku.

All IR Roku remotes on amazon are aftermarket brand remotes. You can purchase Roku Wifi voice remote from Amazon:

@dfrandin-

Roku remotes that control via WiFi (i.e. the two Roku Voice Remotes) must be paired with the Roku to be controlled.

The remote you ordered is an infrared (IR) remote.  You don't pair an IR remote, you just point it at the Roku and press a remote button.  Be sure you have a direct, unblocked line of sight from the remote to the front of the Roku, where its IR detector is located.
