I bought a remote almost a year ago and it wouldn't work on my tv. I figured it was because I didn't have a fire stick. I gave it to my friend who does have one and it won't pair at all. Also why is there no volume control it doesn't make sense not to have one.

A Roku remote without volume keys is an IR only simple Roku remote. It comes with cheapest model of Roku, or is sold at the cheapest price. Also IR remote is useless on any Roku Stick, since Stick don't have an IR sensor, and only accepts wifi remotes.
