Our German Shepherd ate the remote for our old (2017) Roku, so we purcahsed a new remote which does not connect with the device.  So we purcahsed a new Roku Express device that came with a remote.  Unfortunately, it does not connect either.  The Roku screen comes up, requesting preferred language but the remote does nothing to select and start the login process.  We checked and reched the batteries and tried each of the remotes, to no effect.

We're glad to assist you with your problem with pairing your Roku remote to your Roku device. We'd like to know more about the issue you ran into so we can assist you further. What Roku device were you using way back in 2017? (e.g., Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV; specify TV) What type of Roku remote were you using way back in 2017? (universal, simple, or voice remote) Please be advised that Roku Express uses an IR simple remote, and you cannot use that remote with some Roku devices. Please check out this link here for how to pair or fix your Roku voice or simple remote that is not working.
