ROKU TV with Firestick as the home screen?

Can I turn on my ROKU TV and have it go direct to Firestick as the home screen?  Now it requires two different remotes.

Yes.  Set the default "Power-on" input to the Firestick's HDMI port under Settings->System->Power.
