If your TV supports CEC (some manufacturers call it different things) then you can enable "1-touch play" under Settings->System->Control other devices and pressing a button on your Roku remote may turn on the TV.  Do you have the option to enable the "TV Off" shortcut under Settings->Home screen->Shortcuts?  It adds a "TV Off" shortcut to the Home Screen that works with some TVs.
