No audio from my Roku Express connected to my monitor

Jump to solution

I have a Roku Express (3930, 3931 series)  and a monitor. I connected the two with a hdmi cord with a pc port end, and the video is good, but there is no audio. Do I need a different cord or do I need monitor speakers, and if I need speakers, how do I connect them?

Monitors without built-in speakers generally don't have a way to get audio out of them.  Unless it has a headphone jack or some other audio output, you'd need something like an HDMI audio extractor and powered speakers.  It might be easier to just get a TV.
