Roku needs a new remote that has a number keypad where we can enter a channel number to get to shows we want to watch.
Hi, @SmokingJoe
Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community.
As part of our aim to improve the Roku streaming experience, we really appreciate your feedback and input. This is valuable for us, and we'll definitely share this idea with the team for review. We believe that this feature will improve the remote's functionality and navigation while streaming.
If there's anything we can further assist you with aside from this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
All the best,
Kash
Meanwhile, Roku has gone in the opposite direction. It has removed the channel numbers from its Live TV guide on The Roku Channel. After all, with no channel numbers you won't need numbers on your remote, right?
You just have to wonder if the people making the decisions ever actually USE Rokus.
They use channel numbers.
Numbers are disappearing from remotes in general. As we move away from the old-school TV/cable/satellite model to OnDemand, there is no need for numbers.
That said, Roku's can use numbers, it's just that Roku remotes do not have them. A few TV's that use Roku OS may have numbers. Some 3rd party remotes either have the numbers, or can be programmed to use them. Personally, I have a remote that is programmed using the JP1 interface, and the only thing that can use numbers is the Roku Live TV app. So far, on my Roku's, if I access it through the on-screen app, it has numbers. If I access it through The Roku Channel or the Live TV menu entry on the left, there are no numbers.
