Is it normal to have a big ad at the beginning of Youtube premium?

I've been looking on the search history here - but cannot find an answer except for 3 years ago. I'm sure it's asked a lot - so forgive. I just swallowed hard and bought youtube premium to get rid of ads on Roku - the first video I played had a big fat ad first thing. Is this normal? It says I am indeed a premium member on the screen. Geez.

I assume you are paying Google/YouTube directly for Premium? I have it, and have never seen an ad. That said, it may have been something specific to the channel you were watching?
