Ethernet won't connect dongle soundbar,

I've had a wired connection from my router to the Soundbar for over a year, using a dongle, this week we unpluged the connection, cable from dongle and now the software for connecting to Wired wont find the ethernet.  I've reboot, restarted you name it, not my first rodeo.  Any one ever encounter this?  Tech support's only answer was to buy an new soundbar
