I have a 50" TCL Roku TV and one day it simply stopped showing picture. I thought it was broken and put it aside but as it turns out the picture works fine, but the screen is insanely dark and requires a flashlight to read any text legibly. Before I have to take it apart, I want to know if there is any fix I can do.
I HAVE tried:
- Resetting the TV using the small button on the back
- Restarted the TV from the setting on the TV
- Checking if the backlight setting on the TV is set to low by accident
- Power cycling the TV multiple times
Any fixes for this that doesn't involve me soldering in new backlight LED's?
The TV is not that old (2-3 years) so I don't understand how it would break so fast. Never had another TV give out on me like this.
@ymshaqman, if you search this community you'll find many, many reports of backlight issues. About all you can do is attempt to fix it yourself since it's well out of warranty. The LEDs are probably fine; it's the board that drives them that has probably failed.
