Apps that were installed automatically does not show

Jump to solution

I've had my device for almost 3 days now, and have been bored with just Netflix on my device, and when I look in the browser for apps to install, it's all grayed out (I do know there is another community form for this, but it isn't just this issue.) Hulu and Disney+ are apparently installed, but do not show up on my Roku device. I have factory reset it, but nothing worked to get the grey off, or the apps to show.

The Roku device I am on is a Roku Express 4K, I am on a very old Insignia TV, but I don't know if that would change anything.

Unfortunately, that won't help.  It's all about the Roku account.  If you created it while using a VPN, that account is permanently locked to whatever region your VPN-assigned IP address is associated with.  Factory resetting the Roku device and linking it to the same Roku account won't help.  You need to create a new Roku account without using a VPN, factory reset the Roku device, and link it to the new account.

By the way, Roku doesn't support VPNs in any way shape or form, so expect to have problems if your Roku device is connected to a network using a VPN.  Roku seems to go out of their way to ensure that no one from outside one region can access something from another region.

@Kammarouge, that often happens when there's an issue with your Roku account.  If you were using a VPN or anything that masks your true location when you created your Roku account your account may not be associated with the US.

I did take off my VPN network while I reactivated it the second time, but I still cannot see the apps, and other apps are still grayed out.
