DNS Custom on wifi network quaddns, cleanbrowsing,cloudflare family filters

Hi I would like to enable cleanbrowsing https://cleanbrowsing.org/filters/        custom dns ability on my home network right in roku wifi connection settings and not on my router as my internet service provider does not have this feature on their virgin media superhub 4 to change DNS servers and put custom ones. I would like roku youtube app to be put into safe family filtered mode and in order to do this I need to setup cleanbrowsing family filter dns and

IPv4:

185.228.168.168

185.228.169.168

IPv6:

Truncated:

2a0d:2a00:1::

2a0d:2a00:2::

on my home wifi network while connecting in roku os interface OS. Could you make this possible. My LG TV has the ability to do this but roku doesn't and since my lg tv is a few years old and webos on it was running sluggish I decided to fork out on a roku 4k+ streaming stick but it does not allow me to setup custom dns resolver. Restricted mode within the roku youtube app doesn't seem to be doing much filtering of undesirable content on my family used tv in living room. Since my IP is static one shared with other virgin customers in the neighbourhood their youtube shenanigans are whats popping up as recommended on my roku streaming stick feed. I want to block all adult and **bleep** content on youtube and enable safe search on youtube app and cleanbrowsing family filter dns does this but I need this custom DNS field feature to be enabled in roku on connection to wifi network page on roku OS. Kindly enable such an option page and this will be a God send to all families with kids and adults alike

There is a workaround for whole home network.

Buy an additional high quality WiFi  router (£50-£100) from tp link archer range, google nest, netgear orbit.

Connect this new router to virgin router by cable, turn off or lock down virgin WiFi.

Make the DNS config in new router.

Also some models of virgin router can be unreliable due to overheating, extra router will fix that problem.

To be clear: virgin router provides internet from cable docsis standard or fibre, but WiFi is from new router

Link Roku device to new router.

Re: DNS Custom on wifi network quaddns, cleanbrowsing,cloudflare family filters

Hi Miles, If I can talk about filters wouldn't you think I already know of modem mode on virgin and all the rest. Already have another hub and 2 routers setup on the same line. I want to have device level dns config on roku since the router I use services other devices and I want to have quad dns on other devices of the family I am not allowed access to becoz my sister is stubborn and don't want me touching her things but I want to protect all her devices connected via incognito pushing quad dns from the wifi of the router she is connecting to while setting up cleanbrowsing dns on roku seperately since my poor dads eyeballs using living room TV are served filth due to virgin static ip assigned sharing with neighbours on their hub on their network and even though I have enabled restricted mode on roku youtube app it still drops questionable content on the app, cleanbrowsing family filter dns which I use on the router in my room with Asus Merlin firmware allows blocking such **bleep** on all my personal devices on all youtube apps & browser youtube, but I want to protect my family too.

In summary, you want Roku to enhance their device to avoid dealing with family politics.

Not too likely.

Roku not that interested in making family friendly hardware (although won't certify out and out porn channels and has recently removed the route where they lost some of their control of the service, but that's because of the threat to their business model).

In any case, my reply may help others who are less tech savvy than you.  You are dealing with an over complex setup it seems due to restrictions.
