This has also been happening to me on my Insignia Roku TV. I click on a video get a loading message for about 1/2 a second, then a black screen.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app three times, it didn't fix the problem. I can watch on my phone and computer.
Thanks for the help. If Roku is going to be providing Youtube on their products then they need to get involved and stop having the customer do the work they should be doing.
Same issue here.
deleted YouTube
restarted roku
install YouTube
sign in YouTube
play video only black screen
This appears to be a security problem at Google's end. It has been reported that if one goes into one's Google account and attends to the suggestions in the Google Privacy Checkup, videos will again play in YouTube.
Already did the google privacy settings things, it showed no issues, all devices were allowed, still no videos playing on youtube. I have a hunch it may have something to do with their ad system. Hopefully Roku and google can work on this to get it fixed quickly.
I fixed mine - sign out of YT. Sign back it and instead of phone, choose other method. Gives you a code to sign in on PC. Did that and it worked and vids are back. Had to do it on both Rokus.
Youtube's control mechanism killing customer experience again....HMMM.... Rumble just gets better!
What do you do if you don't sign into Youtube? I don't like these creeps tracking me, so I never sign in.
I did that fix this morning. Worked for a bit. Then this afternoon it does not playback on Roku.
Tried all the suggestions in this thread, still does not work. Reinstalled and reset device, YouTube worked until I signed in. Then problem returned. Spent way too much time on this.
