My setup is configured for PCM stereo output, as I have a stereo DAC only. I don't have a receiver to do the downmix for me.
The problem I'm having is that some content -- mostly kids' content -- sounds really bad. I think they're taking two channels out of a 5.1 mix, and sometimes not the best two channels.
Problems range from things sounding muddy, quiet, and unbalanced, to having sound effects and music but no dialogue.
The last two seasons of Fireman Sam on the Roku channel have no dialogue, for example.
Why is this? Can anybody else reproduce it? Where does downmix to two channels happen when Roku is configured that way?
