I am having the same issue. After update 10, when I play a movie from my USB hard drive, the picture is fine but there is a loud white noise over everything. It makes it unwatchable. Streaming works fine...it only happens when playing from the hard drive. The hard drive works on other non-Roku devices.
I have 2 Roku Ultras 4670X (both suffering from issue)
SN: YJ00CS475221
Device ID: KW999C475221
Software: 10.0.0 build 4209-46
Channel: Roku media player version 5.5 build 9
Reproduce by plugging in hard drive with movie file(s) and play through the Roku Media Player channel
Thanks for the the post.
Would you be willing to provide us with a sample of content that you are experiencing an issue with?
Once we are able to obtain the sample, we will be able to investigate the issue further.
Thanks,
Danny
@RokuDanny-R
And just how would we do that?
It’s not just handbrake encoding that breaks it.
Thanks for the follow up.
I've send you a PM and will continue to assist you from there.
Thanks,
Danny
Probably a fix: not sure if someone already solved it.
Thought, I will share incase it can help.
I have same issue of noise after upgrade and just tried to change audio settings,!to something other than Auto. I set it as Dolby plus and that seems to have fixed the issue. Please check and confirm.
The workaround noted has been discussed previously in several threads. Whether it works or not is dependent on the playback device. If the playback device is capable of decoding DD or DD+, that should mitigate the issue. If the playback device requires a PCM-Stereo signal, it will not.
Glad that worked for you. Unfortunately, I've tried that and it doesn't work on my set up.
I actually have identical trouble of noise after improve and simply tried to trade audio settings,! To some thing aside from Auto here. I set it as Dolby plus and that appears to have constant the difficulty. Please check and affirm.
I haven't downgraded but. I saw every other thread that there are some "mystery monitors" on Roku in which that may be accomplished. I did not check that out myself but. One individual who downgraded stated they had been aggravated that it re-upgraded overnight.
