@Mr_Boom wrote:Agree it some codec not being read correctly. The thing is that before they did a system update it worked perfectly fine. If you could revert I would but if you do it will auto update in a day. Roku software team has dropped the ball, it’s been too long an issue without a fix.
Well it looks like they (Roku) won. They ignored the problem and stalled for over 6 months and the users have given up trying to get support from a company that obviously doesn’t care about their customers.
Well done, Roku, but time will tell who has the last word. I look forward to the day when your pathetic company disappears.
Issue ID 04-442-392
Roku Media player
Fix or update the codec so that it can play AAC audio files in H264 video. Everything uses this and currently a loud repeating static sound is heard when playing videos. If your audio is H264 in MP3 then it plays fine. It been almost a year now. JUST FIX IT. READ ALL THE THREADS ABOUT IT
Thank God this issue is finally fixed now. Can't believe it took them eight months to fix it.
When playing videos from Flash drives or hard drives to the Roku Ultra USB input most videos play with no sound. I saw several messages on a Roku forum about a similar problem with the Roku Ultra not playing AC3 audio from the USB port after a Roku update. This was over a year ago.so why am I still having this problem? What good is the USB port if 70% of videos don't play with audio! These videos all play with audio anywhere else.
My Roku software version is 10.5.0 Build 4208-46 with no updates available
Model 4670X - Roku Ultra
Serial Number YJOO18642722
Please fix this problem. The USB port is the main reason I purchased an Ultra, so I could play videos on it. I had the same sound problems both the Roku Media Player and an app called Play USB.
Ironically, until recently I could not play most videos on the USB video or audio, most everything was unsupported. So two steps forward and 1 step back!
Please make sure that as many video and audio types as possible can play on the USB
Fixed? Nope
I tried several times to send my message to ROKU Support through Firefox and Chrome and it would not go through because of some error! Great Support software!

Don’t worry, they wouldn’t have answered anyway.
Are the audio files in the videos AC3 or
E-AC3 because the ultra plays only AC3 if not connected to a receiver. If that does not work try to convert the video audio to AAC that should work 100%.
Oh... it worked for me after the update all videos that had AC3 AUDIO use to get static sound, not anymore.
