VOLUME TURNS OFF WHEN STARTING A NEW EPISODE IN HULU SHOW
WHEN I TRY TO WATCH A SHOW THERE IS NO SOUND; I HAVE TO RESTART THE EPISODE AGAIN WITH MY ROKU HULU CHANNEL AND DO THE SAME THING FOR EACH EPISODE
WHAT IS GOING ON? I HAVE CHECKED THE VOLUME SETTINGS ON MY TV
I HAVE DONE THE SYSTEM UPDATE AND SYSTEM RESTART
BUT NO LUCK FIXING MY PROBLEM
If it's only happening in Hulu, and no other channel on your Roku, then it's something specific with the Hulu channel, not the Roku itself. Roku does not create the channels for third party providers, which is almost every channel. So Hulu is who needs to fix their channel.
However, before attempting to contact them, you might as well try the first thing they will recommend anyway. When channels act up, the first step is to remove the channel, reboot the Roku, then add the channel back. To remove the channel, highlight the channel tile on the home screen and hit the * button. Select Remove channel and let if finish. Now reboot the Roku. Do not skip this step, or the removal is never completed. Either pull the power for 30 seconds, or use the Settings/System/System restart menu. Once it reboots, then add the channel back and enter your login credentials again.
If it's still do it after this, then you need to alert Hulu so their developers can see if they can determine what the channel is or is not doing.

I occasionally have the opposite problem on Hulu -- a program will start with audio but no video. I've found the quickest solution for me is to press the rewind button as soon as the problem is evident.
For me, at least, this has always restarted the program with both audio and video. So meanwhile, while searching for a permanent elimination of the problem, give the rewind button a try -- if it works for you, it at least is easier and quicker than backing out and restarting the program again manually .
I’m experiencing the same issue with the Hulu channel. Occasionally instead of no audio at all there is a weird robotic distorted sound. I assume this is a problem with Hulu and not Roku because it only happens with the Hulu channel.
Using the rewind button fixes the problem for me as well. Weird.
