Ultra 4800R Missing Blue?

Since purchasing this Ultra Roku about 3 months ago this has happened 3 times: on powering up the system, the Roku home screen has a reddish/brown cast. Like it’s missing blue. It happened today and doing a Roku Settings>System >System restart resolves it. Has anyone else experienced this? I have posted about a recurring HDCP error that plagues this device and today’s incident drives home how poor it is.

@jtconte

Thanks for the post.

Have you tried using another HDMI port on your TV as well as switching out the HDMI cable to see if that resolves the issue you are experiencing?

For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried connecting your device to another TV to see if you are experiencing the same issue?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Ultra 4800R Missing Blue?

Thanks for the reply!

Our TV is wall mounted and it’s cables are in the wall.  Only 1 of the TV HDMI inputs supports ARC. Trying different cables/inputs on the TV, even temporarily to isolate the issue, is difficult. Roku kindly sent a replacement 4800x last week for the recurring HDCP 2.2 error. Started getting the HDCP errors within 12 hours of its installation. We are giving up on Roku.

Two separate devices experiencing the issue would indicate something common to them is the problem. That would indicate the TV (perhaps the HDMI port) or the cable.

You have other stuff connected to the TV, as I'm reading it. Is it not possible to swap the inputs? If the problem goes away (or is now on the other device) that confirms it's the TV/port or cable.

Re: Ultra 4800R Missing Blue?

Only the Roku 4800 has ever had the HDCP error. The 2 separate devices you refer to are both Roku 4800’s. A 4K HDR Blu-ray player has never had an error. We use a NAD T 778 AVR with the Samsung TV on its 4K output. All the sources are connected to the AVR’s inputs. All the HDMI cables are Audioquest Chocolate 4K, HDR 18Gbps cables. I have temporarily changed to the cable Roku supplied, a different input on the AVR, disconnected/reconnected the HDMI cables with power disconnected multiple times. The HDCP error goes away for minutes, hours and sometimes several days but always comes back.

@jtconte

Thanks for the update.

For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried not using your AVR and connecting your Roku device directly to the TV to see if you are experiencing the same issue?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

Thanks,
