Sudden resolution issue; can’t resolve it.

I’ve tried everything and I can’t get past this message: “Resolution mismatch! Change device’s resolution” on my streaming stick. I’ve tried resetting and turning the power on/off. Roku was playing just fine, then suddenly stopped and this message came up. What do I do?

@Mrvlv

Assuming by "reset" you refer to a Factory Reset of the device.

You did not say which device. The current stick if the Streaming Stick+ model 3810. Assuming that is the device.

If assumptions are incorrect, please provide more descriptive information.

Do you have another HDMI port on the TV? If so, have you tried using it/them?

Are you powering the Streaming Stick+ by the included power supply? Or are you using a USB port on the TV? The former is always preferred.

Re: Sudden resolution issue; can’t resolve it.

"Resolution mismatch! Change device’s resolution” message is generated by your tv, not your Roku.  It indicates the Roku is sending a signal in a resolution your tv cannot handle.

If that's the case, when you restart the Roku by pulling the power plug for a few seconds then plugging it back in, you should see the normal "bouncing letters" Roku startup screen, but lose your picture when it tries to load the home screen.

I'd suggest trying the Roku on a different TV if one is available, especially if it has a working Roku. If it comes up okay there, go into Settings > Display type and change the Roku to the actual resolution of the problem set instead of the "auto detect" setting. When you get to the countdown screen click on the "yes" option to lock in this resolution. Now move the Roku back to the first set and see if it works.
