The subtitle is not working OK now media player app. I try replaying the files that the subtitles had work before and now does not work. Anyway to fix this? Do we need to wait for an updated fix? Is there any other app that can be use in roku that work?
Subtitles are working with RMP (5.5.9) from both USB and UPnP/DLNA sources with firmware version 10.0.0-4209 on all my devices.
You need to provide more specific information about your problem such as model(s), firmware version(s), app version(s), USB or UPnP/DLNA, server software, subtitle type, file type, etc.
I have multiple Roku 3 (4200X) and are on firmware 10.0.0 build 4209-04 and Media Player version 5.5, build 9 . I'm playing file from my QNAP NAS on my local network UPNL/DLNA. I have the subtitle with same name as video file but with .srt. I loaded Qmedia channel and the subtitle work on roku but the Roku Media Player does not play subtitle. When I select the option during movie in roku media player, I see caption mode (on always) and caption track: 1 of 1 (Unknown) which I did not see before the updates. anyway I can get this fix and working?
thanks,
also, the video files are MP4 with .srt subtitles.
Tested .MP4 with .SRT subtitles with RMP 5.5.9 with 9 different Roku devices (7 different models with firmware 4209/4180: 2710, 3800, 3810, 3910, 4670, 4800, 3941) via both USB and UPnP/DLNA (via Serviio 2.1) and they all worked without issue.
I suggest you restart all your devices, and verify via both USB and UPnP/DLNA.
If they play via USB but not UPnP/DLNA, then its an issue with your QNAP NAS server (restart/reboot/reconfigure).
I'm having what is perhaps the same problem. Please pardon me because I am not very technically knowledgeable.
It used to be that if a video had separate .srt subtitle files (subtitles not embedded into the main file) that I could not play subtitles if the file was on my computer, the file was in my media server library (I'm using Windows Media Player), the computer was on the local area network, and my Roku Ultra was on the LAN.
But I could work around this by copying the video + .srt subfolder to a USB stick memory and plugging that into my Roku Ultra. Now this kluge no longer works.
Thoughts?
Allen
I had the same problem. But then I reinstalled my DLNA server, and the subtitles returned.
