Have a Roku Ultra for about 2 months and is connected to an older Sony TV. It worked fine for a few weeks, then no sound. I have tied several of the remedies, like unplugging the power cable and unplugging the HMDI cable. It might works one but then the sound goes out again. We have a second TV upstairs with a second Ultra box and a newer Sony TV. It has no issues with sound.
Any thoughts about the problem.
Welcome to the Roku Community, @dem326!
Thank you for informing us about the issue with your Roku device's intermittent sound. We're here to help and would love to learn more about it.
Before we proceed, when you hear an intermittent sound, does it affect all the channels on the platform, or is it just a specific case? Also, is this a recent issue, or have you experienced it before? Have you tried plugging the device into a different TV?
We are looking forward to hearing from you and diving into this issue.
Thanks,
Jharra
Like I said before, its a new Roku Ultra and worked for a few weeks on my older Sony which is downstairs, then no sound on any platform. I have tried the suggested remedies, including resetting the factory settings. It will work once or twice, then the sound cuts out again on all platforms. I switched the Roku Ultra to my newer Sony upstairs and it works fine. I also bought a second Roku Ultra at the same time and have used it on the newer Sony. It works fine all the time.
It seems to me the problem could be connected with the older Sony. I have a wireless connection for both Rokus and connect both Rokus with a HDMI cable. I have switched HDMI cables but to no avail. The older Sony has only one HDMI "port."
I did not say an intermittent sound. I get no sound on any streaming service. I had no issue for a few weeks but now no sound whenever I turn on Roku.
