Sound Cuts in and Out with 60HZ HDR Selected

Experiencing choppy audio across multiple channels (Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, Fox Now) when my Roku Premiere Plus is set to 4K 60Hz HDR video output. The audio will cut out for .5 second once every 20 seconds or so. The tv (Vizio P-Series Quantum X) is capable of this setting as it is selected from the auto detect feature. The only was I have been able to get the problem to stop is by manually setting the video output to only 4K (no HDR). I’ve tried a factory reset on the device as well as disabling my sound bar and using audio through my tv speakers only. Any others experiencing this or a similar problem?

Re: Sound Cuts in and Out with 60HZ HDR Selected

Not the same exact problem, but on both of my TVs, I get very good reception, but very choppy sound once in a while. When this occurs, both TVs are choppy, not just one.  I have to reboot the router, and so far, the problem goes away.  Yours being a 4K TV, make sure your bandwidth is appropriate.

My rebooting process is that I have to disconnect (pull) the router power cable for about 5 minutes; I have no power button. The 5 minute pause gives me a totally new circuit connection with my ISP and not the same connection if I do a quick reboot (I've checked this in my router.).  Give it a try....????

Good luck

Re: Sound Cuts in and Out with 60HZ HDR Selected

Same issue with mine. Streaming stick, Vizio Quantum. I was able to manually set to 4k HDR 30hz and the clipping stopped. Prior to this I tried everything. Switching from HDMI ARC to Optical, moving wifi router away from cables, testing Vizio's built in apps (not a fan of their UI, but did not have the audio clipping issue. There is definitely something up with the 4k 60hz setting on roku. Hope a software patch is coming soon.

Re: Sound Cuts in and Out with 60HZ HDR Selected

I'm now a full week using the 4K HDR 30HZ display setting my Roku Streaming stick and have no audio clipping sound issues. Yesterday updated to the latest Roku software read some speculation that they had fixed the audio clipping issue. It's not fixed. Within a minute of switching the display back to 4k 60HZ HDR on the Roku settings the audio began clipping again. It's too bad because my Vizio (75" Class - PX-Series - 4K UHD) supports 60HZ and does produce a better picture at that setting but I can't use it without the recurring audio clipping problem. Hoping that product support reviews these pages and is looking in to it.

Re: Sound Cuts in and Out with 60HZ HDR Selected

This issue has been dragging on for years. Roku sev team has to own it and not tell people to go stereo or reboot repeatedly.
