We have a Roku streaming stick 3820X, which was purchased less than six months ago and is having an annoying playback issue. When we wake it up from sleep mode, the Roku homepage loads as full-sized on our TV screen, as does every app (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) But once we make a selection and the show/movie starts streaming, the video reduces to about 1/3 the size of our television screen, in the top left corner.
We have replicated this issue across half a dozen apps — Netflix, HBO Max, Prime, Apple TV+, etc. The apps themselves always work fine on the full screen, but any show selection goes to 1/3 screen size. The only way to fix this is to hard-restart the system in Settings, which means that we have to do this every single time we want to use the device. Then when the system does wake up, the remote doesn't work and we have to literally go hold it behind our TV and press the buttons to get it to connect again. (Yes, we already have the free extender cable that's supposed to resolve this issue.)
We have already tried searching for system and channel updates, and they're all updated. We've tried switching the Roku to a different outlet, same issue. Only Settings > System > Power > System restart resolves the issue. What gives?
