My daughter has a Samsung UN55FH6030F TV which is not advertised as having Anynet+ (CEC) yet her Roku stick turns the TV on/off and controls the volume just fine. She has a Sony HT-CT550W home theatre system that I want to connect to this TV. I've tried plugging the Roku in the receiver but the Roku remote on/off function only turns on the TV and not the receiver nor does it control the receiver volume. When I turn the TV off using the Roku remote, the home theater keeps playing audio. The home theater remote doesn't seem to control the TV on/off function.
I'm trying to avoid having to use multiple remotes. Any suggestions?
Last I heard Roku didn't make any claims to control receivers. There are some fancy programmable remotes out there, but if the Roku is a stick, then it has no IR receiver. However, since a Roku Express is very cheap, (cheaper than some fancy remotes) you could just swap one of those in for the stick.
Personally, I have always just used each thing's remote to control each thing. My parents have always liked more integrated remotes with one button to turn everything on and off, however, they eventually get something out of sync, and this is a "disaster" that I have to fix by going over and asking where the original remotes are.
Well, I'm now thinking a Firestick may be in my future as it supports these features.
