Samsung Q90T - audio lag with ARC to Receiver

Hi - I just got a Samsung Q90T and I connected a Roku Ultra on HDMI directly to port 1.  Then I connected my fairly dated Onkyo receiver (onkyo tx sr 508) to the ARC port to push the sound back out.  Since then I am having slight audio sync issues.  I tried to turn off the Volume Leveling function as many people suggested, but the issue seems to persist.  I have the sound on Auto-detect, which finds DD+, and trying it on Stereo doesn't seem to help either.

Hoping somebody is knowledgable enough to help!

It seems like all of Roku's current products have audio problems. I just bought a $2,000 TCL TV only to find this out. I have it setup with eARC as well. Hopefully we get some assurances that this is being worked on soon because from my understanding this has been an ongoing and unacknowledged issue for months.

If thats a 2020 Ultra (4800) you need to change it from "Auto detect" to "Auto passthrough" (on the 4800 "Auto detect" converts/transcodes all output to the highest detected Dolby level of the connected device, which causes latency).

Otherwise, you'll need to go into the TV's audio settings and tweak those settings.

Re: Samsung Q90T - audio lag with ARC to Receiver

I tried this, but it still doesn't seem to work.  It is on Auto-passthrough, and I also just got a 2.1 HDMI cable to connect the reciever to the eARC port on the TV hoping it makes a difference.  it didn't.

Are there any other solutions? It's clearly a Roku issue though because when I use the TV's App natively for streaming (Disney+ on TV, vs on Roku), the lagging disappears.

Make sure CEC is enabled in the TV and AVR, and again examine the TV's and AVR's audio settings for lip-sync settings.

It might also be worth it to power everything off completely for several minutes, then power on your AVR, then your TV, then your Roku.

Thanks.  They are turned on, Anynet+ is ON for Samsung, and HDMI CEC is ON for the Onkyo too. No difference.
