Roku stick works for 5 min and then I get a screen that says “check device power”

I access the Roku stick…it functions perfectly for approximately 5-10 minutes and the the screen goes black and then I get a screen that stays on continuously that says: “Check Device Power” I try and resume watching the streaming show, it plays for another minute or two and then the same screen appears again!?! Do I need a new Roku stick?

If powering your Streaming Stick through your TV's USB power port, try using the power adapter in a wall outlet instead.  If already using wall power, try using a different USB power adapter. (try a cell phone USB charging adapter 5volt, 1amp).

Thanks AvsGunnar….it is plugged into an ac power cord that came with the stick out of the box?

What is model number of Roku device. (Settings/System/About)

Generally, the power supply is a 2 part system. (power cable and power adapter).  Normally, the power adapter is usually a suspect culprit, but could be a bad power cable.

Depending on the model, could be a single AC power cable with molded plug for wall power only.

You mentioned "it is plugged into an ac power cord that came with the stick out of the box".  Does this mean you are plugged directly into the wall outlet?

I have recently been made aware that UK models may lack the inclusion of this power adapter in the packaging.  In such cases, will have to procure your own power adapter (5volt, 1amp), plug into wall, and see if that resolves issue.
