Solving playback issues

Hello Roku,

My wonderful Roku stick has stopped working. It has worked fine for a year or so and I turned it on the other day and watched a few things without any problems but now the Roku stick has a solid white light on it but is not displaying anything on my TV. 

I have: 

• Tried new batteries
• Tried a different HMDI cable
• Tried connecting the stick straight into a HMDI port on my TV
• Tried all the HDMI ports
• Made sure the HDMI ports work by connecting my Mac to my TV
• Connected the USB to the mains power by using the Roku power cable
• Connected via USB to the TV
• Checked that the USB ports on the TV work by connecting the external hard drive
• Reset the Roku stick by holding the reset button for 20 second
• Tried to pair the remote by holding down the remote pair button for 5 seconds

All of the above results in the white light being solid on the Roku stick and nothing showing on my TV.
But one thing which is odd is the power and volume buttons on my Roku remote turn the TV off and control the volume ok. 

Bar taking the thing apart I don’t have anything else to try. Please help.

The limited TV controls on the stick's remote communicate directly to the TV via IR signals -- they don't involve the stick at all.

With the trouble shooting you've done, I think the stick has probably quit working.  Electronic equipment is always susceptible to surges and spikes in the power delivered to it.  Do you have it connected via a surge protected connection?

No. The only thing I have surge protected in the house is the micro-wave. 

🤔 I presume this would not be covered under a warrenty? Thinking about it I’m pretty sure that this warrenty has expired.

Shame, Roku is a great piece of kit, however I’m wary about buying another as they don’t seem to last that long. Lols my eggs have a longer shelf life! 🙄

For completeness, my new Roku stick arrived today and it works fine in the TV that my older stick stopped working in.

Good news. Thanks for reporting back. Now consider slapping a surge protector on that outlet.
