Roku stick is fried after power outage (twice)

I have now managed to fry two Roku sticks over the course of less than a year. Each time, we had a power outage. Each time, the Roku stick stopped working afterwards. I use Roku for everything and assume I just need to go ahead and throw away another $50 for my third device of the year. Is there another solution? Why does this keep happening? Thank you!

Re: Roku stick is fried after power outage (twice)

How are you powering it?  My guess would be that whatever is powering it (AC adapter or TV USB power supply) does not act "gracefully" when the power goes out. Possible solutions would be trying to power it another way and/or adding a surge suppressor, or, better, a UPS.
