Solving playback issues

Simple hook up. Goes into my shield and then just outputs it on to the table. I also notice when using anytime SHOWTIME my TV reports only SDR. How do I get it to play HDR ALL the time? If I go back to my Nvidia Shield plays HDR good and solid. If I switch to my Roku Ultra, NO HDR, only sad looking. Is there a way force this player to HDR 10 bit? %99 the picture looks better upscaled anyway. HELP
