Roku TV + Vizio Soundbar via HDMI ARC volume value doesn't update unless I hit mute

Just recently connected a Vizio soundbar to my TCL Roku TV via HDMI ARC and the volume control works perfectly but the number that appears on the TV doesn't change until I hit Mute. My workaround has just been to mute and unmute to get the value to update. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks for the post.

For clarification, which remote are you using to control the volume, the TV remote or the soundbar remote. In addition, if you disconnect the soundbar, does this issue still occur?
