Roku Premiere Overheating

Jump to solution

My Roku Premiere has been overheating repeatedly and has become unusable. I tried all of the suggested solutions without success.  It was purchased in Feb 2021.  I am convinced that this problem is a result of a flaw in the device and is not the result of any circumstances peculiar to my use.  It has always used in a well ventilated location and was always connected to the USB provided by Roku. I have tried using the tv USB and another plug-in USB and the device still quickly overheats.

Unfortunately it’s out of warranty. The Roku Premium is a base model Roku device. What is the model number?

Re: Roku Premiere Overheating

My Premiere has just started displaying the overheating warning that so many others have reported. It's been running fine for months, and I have not changed it's location (out in the open with unrestricted airflow). This is obviously a design defect.

Model 3920X

Serial number YH00EU240084

Re: Roku Premiere Overheating

Hello @RokuKariza-D ,

I've tried letting the Premiere cool down, and it works for a while then the Overheating on-screen message re-appears. As I mentioned in the original post, it's located in a place with good air flow, and the location hasn't been changed so my conclusion is that it's not an environment issue, rather that the Premiere is failing.
