Roku Premiere HD/4K/HDR overheats within minutes

We've followed all the suggestions in the FAQ article, placed the roku in the open, away from all other electronics and out of sunlight, and it overheats almost immediately.

We've only had it a month. It began overheating last week, but now has displayed the message twice within a few hours. The unit feels very warm after running only 5-10 minutes.

Hi @breiersharlow

Thanks for posting here in the Community!

Could you send us the serial number of the affected device? It can be found by either navigating to Settings > System > About or at the back/underneath the device itself.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best,
Kariza

Re: Roku Premiere HD/4K/HDR overheats within minutes

I have the same issue as @breiersharlow. The unit heats up within minutes of powering on.

ROKU Express 4K+ SNSmiley Frustrated07P2163SGLV   Model 3941X

I am very uncomfortable using this product at this hot temperature (108.4f per laser thermometer). The red light I have seen mentioned in other posts does not appear on this unit.

Please advise if I need to return this unit or not.

@ralphrn2

Thanks for the post.

We would recommend taking a look at the information provided by our Support page regarding overheating with your device here: What should I do if the red light is on or I see a “Your device is overheating” warning?

Thanks,
Danny
