Solving playback issues

I'm just here to report the exact same issue on my 3920X Premiere playing files from a Seagate PersonalCloud NAS.  Downgrading to version 9.4.0 resolves the problem. The exact same files play fine on 9.4.0 but play nothing but choppy buzzing sounds every half second very loudly on 10.0.0.

I hope I can continue to downgrade software on the device until this is resolved with a new release or by pulling the failed 10.0.0 release.

I appreciate all the replies. As I mentioned this started a few weeks back prior to OS 10. I was stating that the update to OS 10 did not fix the issue as I was hoping. Must be the RMP app. I don't know when RMP updated to ver5.5 build 9 coinciding with the issue or not. I will try to contact @RokuChris about the issue.

Same thing started happening to me precisely when 10.0.0 was installed. I am hearing this same sound on apps like AppleTV+, Plex, and others. In Plex, I can listen to music and watch trailers perfectly fine, but the actual movies fail. They are all AC3.

I watched a show last night on AppleTV+ and it was fine. My system upgraded at 7:08pm and tonight the same episode emits this strange sound instead.

I have found that if I manually override the HDMI audio setting to Stereo, the problem stops. I normally have Dolby Digital, DTS selected.

I have a Roku Ultra 4660X currently running 10.0.0 build 4177-46.

I have the 4660X 2 of them.  One updated yesterday to the 10.0.0 4177-46 build and one is still on the 9.4 release.  The one that updated is now buggered and any multichannel content is not working. Moving to stereo is not a option because that would cause Plex to transcode all multi-channel content which is not desired.

We would be happy to look further into this issue. Can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

Very similar problem suddenly.

Really loud static on hundreds of files I have watched previously on Roku Premiere+. This just happened very recently, it's the same on the Roku Express but not on the TCL TV. It's with Handbrake transcoded with the Roku template either MKVs, M4Vs or MP4's. The template has AC3 pass through and ACC 160 bit rate, it's as if RMP is ignoring the ACC and trying to play the AC3 causing the static suddenly.
