I have a Roku Express Model 3930X hooked up to an older Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR2 manufactured in August 2006. The Roku started randomly shutting off a few days ago & now I just have a black screen. Have repeatedly unplugged everything, did a reset on the Roku, tried different HDMI ports, and even bought a new Roku yesterday, & still have a black screen. I can connect to Netflix and some other channels through my DVD player. I tried the Rokus thru that HDMI port too, but nothing. I have wasted hours plus $ on the new Roku. My 2 other Rokus on other TVs are working fine. Any idea on what is going on? Maybe I should buy a Firestick.
@LAXMom, you haven't mentioned if you're using the supplied power adapter and not the TV's USB port. It's unlikely that two Roku devices, new and old, would both fail. Have you tried either device on another TV?
Thank you for your reply. I use the supplied power adapter. Oddly enough, after more repeated tries with both, within the past hour, the old one suddenly worked & had me set it up as if I had never used it before. Very strange, but I am relieved.
