Re: Roku Express 4k+ regularly stuck loading, needs restart

For those of you with this problem with Roku DEVICES, not Roku TVs:

Under Roku menu path Settings > System, do you have a Power item?  If so this was added to some recent models of Roku devices in the Roku 10.5 revision that is currently rolling out.  If you have this Power item try deactivating any power management options under that and see if it fixes the problem

Re: Roku Express 4k+ regularly stuck loading, needs restart

I got a few suggestions but none of them worked unfortunately.

My new Roku has a slightly different menu than the old one, which leads me to believe that a new version of the software was rolled out. Do you have a Power option on your Roku? My old one does not, it has a System Restart right below or above the System Update. Did you try doing factory reset and starting from scratch to see if you get a new software version? You'll have to set everything up again if you do though -- wifi, logins, etc.

Re: Roku Express 4k+ regularly stuck loading, needs restart

I have a similar problem to these other users of the Roku Express 4k+.

My issues started after the 10.5 software update in early December.

I have to restart the Roku every time I switch from one app to another.  Example: I switch from YoutubeTV to Amazon Prime, or Netflix, or Peacock.  I get into the second app, find a show, press play and then it just hangs with the rotating icon.  Only way to get it to work is to ALWAYS do a system restart before switching to new app.  Please is there some help here?

Re: Roku Express 4k+ regularly stuck loading, needs restart

I had exactly the same issue. The change that appears to have fixed it for me is to enable the following setting:

Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced display settings > Auto-adjust display refresh rate = On

I have a Roku Express 4K running software version 10.5.1 build 4066-CR.

Appreciate the suggestion @Peter_WT  but that setting change didn't do the trick for me Smiley Sad

Re: Roku Express 4k+ regularly stuck loading, needs restart

I have the same issue, problem occurs both with the USB connected to the TV or using the provided adapter. With older types of Roku players I have never experienced this.

Sometimes it even occurs while stopping a video to select another one. For example this weekend I was watching the pre race show on F1TV, shortly before the race this program started. I used the arrow to come back to the F1TV main screen to select the race itself. Didn't work, had to reboot the device through the settings.

But other times it also happens when I haven't used the system for a while, now that I have connected it to the TV, when after a few hours I want to start using the device it does load the apps, but like in PeacockTV I don't see the preview.

Also what I noticed lately is that in YouTube while scrolling on the homepage the screen goes black when scrolling.

@jjcxon

Thanks for the post.

Have you tried rebooting your wireless network to see if that helps the issue you are experiencing. In addition, have you tried changing the wireless channel that your router is broadcasting?

Please keep us posted what you find out and we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,
Danny
