Roku 3 needs rebooted every morning

Hi, my Roku 3 needs to be removed from power and plugged back in to start every morning. Its ok after that until the next night. Something I have been doing for years is turning off the wifi over night, and I recent added a micro sd card. Thanks for any help you can give - John

Re: Roku 3 needs rebooted every morning

@Farcry

Thanks for the post.

Please be aware that the Roku 3 is an older device. How are you powering the Roku device? Is the device plugged into a wall outlet or is it plugged into a TV USB port? If you're turning off your wireless network each night, it's possible that the Roku device is having a hard time connecting back to your network without having to be restarted.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Roku 3 needs rebooted every morning

Hi Danny, thanks for your reply.

The device is plugged into the wall socket. I left on wifi last night and it did start better, but kept giving error message about not connected to hdmi device, or something like that. It resolved with a restart.

Do you think I should upgrade, and which box is the modern version of the roku3. Many thanks John

@Farcry

Thanks for the follow up.

Given the Roku 3 is an older device, it's possible that it is on its way out and you may need to upgrade your device. The most comparable Roku model to the Roku 3 would be the Roku Express.

To compare all of the current Roku model devices, you can visit our Products page here: https://www.roku.com/products/compare

Thanks,
