Solving playback issues

My roku remote will turn my tv off and control the volume, but never turns my TV on. I think the issue is when I turn my TV off it somehow resets something in my remote settings and changes my tv brand from Sylvania to something like Fukai. It’s happened over and over again, every time I turn my tv off and then on and go to set up my remote it completely changes my tv brand.

It calls it my “Funai” brand tv when it’s a Sylvania.

Funai manufacturers TV's for the US market.  Odds are Sylvania uses the same command set as Funai, so the two are equivalent.

My guess is your problem is caused by a change introduced by Roku operating system version 10.5.  It added added a new "Power" item in the "Settings > System" menu for some of the latest Roku models. In my estimation, these power management options weren't very well thought out.

If you have a "Settings > System > Power" menu item, under "Auto power savings" see if deactivating any power savings options  keeps the Roku from shutting down.
