Solving playback issues

I am going on my 3rd or 4th ROKU. This one is a 4800X.  It works great most of the time but then there are times that it has issues.

I have some videos that are saved on a USB memory stick thats then plugged into the ROKU unit. 90% of them work great and I can pause, fast forward or reverse as needed. Then there are some videos that simply refuse to do anything but play. You cannot stop them, or do anything but live with them simply playing.

Nothing is running in the background, its simply turned on when this is happening. I have unplugged the unit, as well have reset the unit and no change. It has the latest updates installed and otherwise working great.

Suggestions? I have never had this before.  Thanks!

How are you accessing the content on your memory stick? What format is the content that you are experiencing an issue with?

Am trying to watch standard MP4 video files.Some are short clips while some are longer movies.

I first copy something to a USB memory stick from a desktop or laptop computer, then insert it in to the ROKU unit, then go to the main ROKU menu, then to the  "media player" and from there normally view the movie.

Every video or movie I have tried almost always starts playing, but some of them allow me to fast forward, pause or rewind the video. My issue is that there are some videos or movies that for some reason will not allow this. Trying to figure out why and how to fix this in the future.

Suggestions?

Would you be willing to provide us with 2 samples of the issue you are experiencing so we can replicate the issue (one that works and one that displays the issue?)

How do I provide a sample? The problem is very easy,

I stick the USB stick into the ROKU then after finding the video, I tell it to play. Have never had one not play but 90% of them will allow you to pause or FF or Rewind, while some 10% of them simply play and the pause, FF or rewind buttons on the remote does nothing.
