Hi,
I have some issues with my Roku Ultra. First, my equipment is a Yamaha RX A3060 - Roku Ultra and a Sony 950h. My set up has all sources going through the Yamaha with 4k rated HDMI cables and one 4k HDMI cable out to the Sony.
When I pull up the Netflix app on the TV it shows various programs available in Dolby Vision. When I pull up the Netflix app on the Roku all shows say HD. I have no idea why this is. When I set the Roku display type to Auto Detect, it shows, it detects 1080p Dolby Vision HDCP 2.2.
When I try to force it to another output, it says it does NOT detect 4k Dolby Vision, and it will Not detect 4k HDR10 at 30fps (This I get, because the Yamaha 3060 can't pass through HDR10.) I can force it 4K UHD and it will display programs in 4k. But when I am finished watching and turn off the TV or whatever, when I activate the Roku again it tries to force the output back to Auto Detect which is only1080p. What am I missing here?
Since you asked/answered/solved this already elsewhere (avsforums), you should type out a quick solution post and select it.
Many 4K Yamaha AVRs come shipped with the incorrect mode enabled. I always forget if it needs to be in mode 1 or mode 2. On my receivers, you have to enter the boot menu (not available after it's running) and select the correct mode. If you're on the wrong mode, you won't get 4K/60 HDR, and it's certainly blocking DV. Look at this page for some basics, although not specific to your model.
Yes correct! I just haven't made my way back here yet, as I am working from home today. Problem is solved! The problem was not with the Roku at all. The problem was with my Yamaha receiver. I got a firmware update for the receiver back in December and the update added another output mode for HDMI passthrough. There are two Modes now, 1 and 2.

Mode 1 allows for 4k HDR Dolby Vision passthrough. Once I switched to Mode 1 the problem is solved! I called Yamaha support and they were able to walk me through this. Once again the Roku is perfectly fine!
Yes that is correct. I had completely forgot Mode 1 and Mode 2. I'm just it's resolved and there is no problem with the Roku. It is a great streamer!
I found this thread very interesting! I have a Yamaha RX-V4A with a Sony 49X800H with the Ultra. All cables are compliant and Ultra auto detects 4K Dolby Vision HDCP 2.2. Yamaha is set to mode 1. My problem is that the Netflix app loses the ability to recognize Dolby Vision is supported! Open Netflix through a different profile or reboot the Ultra and it’s back. I have yet to figure out what’s causing this to happen…

This is a bug with the NF version for the 4800 - just use Get Help/Reload Netflix from the NF UI instead of restarting your Roku etc.
