PBS Crashes as soon as it is selected.

Jump to solution

Seems this happened a lot in 2024, but discussion there is closed. I have a TCL ROKU TV model 55R15. I have a new eero 6 mesh system. PBS app worked fine up until around Jan 22, 2025.

Tried the advice in prior threads. Unplugged TV and Wi-Fi, uninstalled and reinstalled PBS app. All other channels work. When I click PBS the PBS logo fills the screen for a split second than disappears. Eero customer service suggests I unblock all ads, but seems that option would mean I need to pay for an eero plus subscription fee of $99.99. I pay PBS $60 annually for their Passport, but can't even access the free parts of PBS.

Any thoughts. Thanks

@Kevinmpa-

After removing the channel, but BEFORE reinstalling it, did you RESTART** your Roku to clear its memory cache?  Without the restart you may not get a clean reinstall.  This is not a cure-all but at least it will assure you of having an uncorrupted copy of the current channel app.

Depending on your Roku model number you'll find the "System restart" option under either "Settings > System > Power" or under "Settings > System".   If you don't have sufficient control to use the menus, or if it is just more convenient, you can also restart by pulling the power plug for a short while, then plugging it back in.

**On a Roku TV with "Fast TV Start" enabled, turning the TV off/on only puts you in/out of a low power standby state, it does NOT give you a complete restart.  Use the methods above.

Good call,  makaiguy!

Thanks so much for your expert help. I had been emailing eero without success.

Your advice was spot on.  I've got PBS app reinstalled and running.
